Vietnam Day in Russia – May 2019

From May 22-25, 2020, the “Vietnam Day in Russia” was held on the occasion of the official visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The event included the following activities: (i) Photo exhibition on diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia and photo exhibition “Russian feelings”; (ii) Exhibition of Vietnamese folk painting art; (iii) Introduction of Vietnamese culinary culture; (iv) Vietnamese Space.

In the lobby of the Zaryadye Theater, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visited the area introducing Vietnam – Russia diplomatic relations, including a set of documentary photos introducing the highlights and milestones of Vietnam – Russia. Besides the historical dimension, the two prime ministers also together expressed their emotional feelings to the photo series “Emotions of Russia”. This is a photography – film project that treasures the memories with pictures and speeches of some typical Vietnamese and Russian people in the fields of politics, economics, science and technology, culture and art, who have studied or worked in Russia. All photos were made by a prominent photographer Duong Minh Long – who has studied and lived in Russia for a long time.

Before the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Year in Russia and the Russian Year in Vietnam 2019-2020, the two Prime Ministers immersed themselves in the introduction of the process of making a traditional Dong Ho painting. The Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also cordially signed and gave Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev an autographed painting Phu Quy as the epitome of the close-knit diplomatic relations between the two nations.

In the ceremony, nationally acclaimed Vietnamese chefs introduced a variety of distinctive and delicious Vietnamese dishes to the fellow Russian people and the Vietnamese community in Russia. Scores of Russians have expressed their interest in the culture diversity of Vietnamese and the event was an impeccable place where they can experience the making process of Dong Ho paintings, enjoy tea and staple Vietnamese dishes galore.
